About ChargerWatch

ChargerWatch.org is a citizen-led initiative that records and publishes independent data on public EV charging in Maryland.

It was created by the EV Charging Task Force (EVCTF), a volunteer group of Maryland electric vehicle drivers who regularly use and depend on the state's charging infrastructure.

We believe that the best measure of charger performance comes from the people who actually plug in every day. Our data comes from direct observation, driver reports, photos, and systematic surveys — not from network operators or government agencies alone.

By making this information public and easy to access, we aim to increase transparency, highlight what's working, and drive accountability where improvements are needed.

• Driver-powered — Data is collected primarily by EV drivers who use the public charging stations.
• Independent — We are not affiliated with charger networks, or government agencies.
• Transparent — Our methodology, data sources, and any limitations are documented.
• Action-oriented — We share findings with regulators, legislators, utilities, and the public to support better policy and maintenance.
• Collaborative — We welcome verified driver submissions, photos, and reports to strengthen the dataset.

Maryland has invested significant public resources and set ambitious goals for EV adoption and charging infrastructure. Drivers were promised reliable, fairly priced, and accurately metered charging.

When chargers are frequently out of service, hard to find, have questionable billing, or more expensive than expected, it undermines confidence in the transition to electric vehicles. Independent, real-world data helps close the gap between promises and performance.
